2-day Holiday Special!

This amazing sale is only going to be good Thursday and Friday November 6th and 7th. Christmas is coming (I heard "Sleigh Ride" playing at the mall yesterday, so I know it's true!) and of course that means Christmas cards! Ordinarily I design custom Christmas cards for my clients, but face it, custom cards are a luxury that with the way the economy is these days, we can live without. So I am offering a too-good-to-miss two-day special Thursday November 6th and Friday November 7th ONLY! Here it is:

Option 1-
For only $50, you will receive a mini session of your family or your children. This will be done sometime in November on a mutually convenient and weather-permitting day. In addition to the mini session- you will get an online preview album of your images- AND 24 4x6 photos of any one image of your choice to put in your Christmas cards. They can still be customized with a special text if you'd like, such as "Merry Christmas! Love, The Jones family" at no additional charge. Session will last 20-30 minutes or however long it takes to get 4-5 good shots to choose from.

Option 2-
For only $75 you will receive the mini session and online preview album but instead of the 25 4x6 photos you will receive your favorite 2 image files (fully retouched) to print as many as you would like.

Option 3-
For $150 you will receive a full-length session and 20-25 (or as many as we got, if less) fully retouched images for personal reprinting. This session will last about an hour and we usually get 30-40 images to choose from. These will include a variety of whole family, kids together (if applicable), individual kids, etc. Pets welcome (within reason- I won't recommend bringing a cat to the park).

Option 4-
Thanksgiving. I will only do one of these as I really do want to spend some of the day with my family. But for $300 I will come to your home for 1-2 hours on Thanksgiving afternoon and photograph your family gathering. This could include some candid shots in a journalistic way, or individual family groups and one large group photo. I will give you a CD of all the images for your own printing, and will offer discounted wall portrait printing if you would like to have them professionally printed.

THE CATCH (of course there's a catch!)- These sessions must be scheduled and paid for in advance by no later than Friday November 7th at 6:00pm! You can call me at any point during the day Thursday and Friday. If I don't answer leave me a message. I will get you on my list. Due to my limited schedule in November/early December, I can only schedule 4-6 weekend sessions and 10-15 sessions Monday through Wednesday. I do have two of the full sessions available THIS Saturday November 8th- providing it stops raining by then (unless you want to use your house or another indoor location).

Portraits make wonderful Christmas gifts- not to mention the things you could make with a CD of 25 images (a slideshow, mugs, calendars, mouse pads, etc) and you don't have to set foot in a mall or stand in a long line!

Call 425-931-7616 or email jen@jennifereagan.com to schedule your session right away!

Some sneak peeks for mom...

Last week I had the privilege of doing a senior photo session for Dugan, a high school senior in Monroe. He was my first boy senior and it was a lot of fun. I got dirty (which I NEVER do with the girls!) and got to do some shots at the Monroe Fire Department. I thought I would post a few here for mom to see. :)
This was taken at the creek at Eagle Park, shortly before I stepped in a big puddle and consequently had wet squishy feet for the rest of the day.

This was in the doorway of this outbuilding at the park we were at. I liked how it turned out.

On the back of the same building...

I learned that Dugan is an excellent guitar player and got several nice shots of him playing.

I love getting to be creative.

A glimpse

Baby K's family was a former NILMDTS family I did photos for last year and was so happy when they emailed that they were having another little one! We just did her one month session and here are a couple previews for mom and dad. :)

Had to get big brother and sis in on the action too, they were so adorable!

Christmas Card Deadline, Back to School, and Kids Club!

Christmas Cards!
I know it's crazy to think about but it's already time to be getting those family sessions done for your Christmas cards!! Deadline for sessions to have cards back in time will be November 1 with orders complete NO LATER THAN NOVEMBER 15!!! Orders later than November 15 will not be guaranteed to arrive in time to mail before Christmas!

Back to School!
We all of course get the mandatory school photos- "wear your best dress, hair in place, sit here, turn your head this way, chin down a little, not that far chin up a little, right there, ok now eyes on me, ok now SMIIIIIIIIIIILE SAY CHEESE" everybody looks the same.
My younger two kids photos always seem to make them look angry, or at least a little bit devious, while my oldest always is cute, yet stiff and somewhat dull. Of course we get a few of them but never buy the big package.
Wouldn't you LOVE to have a photo of your child to give to your family that actually captured a little bit of the spark in their eyes? Now through October 18, I am offering 30-minute back to school photo sessions for kids age 4-16. For $50 per child, you will receive a 30 minute location session that perfectly captures your child doing what makes them unique, captures the twinkle in their eye, and their true personality. Included is one 8x10 and 8 wallets with additional prints available at a discount. Everett only. Call ASAP to reserve your time! 425-931-7616.

Baby and Kids Club
Join our baby and kids club for $250 and receive 4 sessions in one calendar year and get your print prices locked in for the whole year, even in the event our prices go up! Baby and kids club members receive a 20% discount on prints and special gifts for reaching certain order levels. Savings over $250.

Yikes!

OK, sorry, it's been a while again. I am a terrible blogger... forgive me?
To be quite honest, I haven't really been "with it" much the past few months. I started in May back to work at Top Foods, which is unfulfilling, tedious, mundane, irritating, depressing, and low-paying. BUT- there are a lot of really nice people there and I enjoy working with them. Plus I'm SUPPOSED to start getting some health benefits soon- (I HOPE SO! This girl's got ISSUES!).

Anyway, I finally am getting the website back up and running again, and it links to here- so I thought I had better update this since I haven't done it since before school got out.

A lot has happened since I last wrote. Some good, some terrible. Many of you know about Samantha's fight with cancer for the past 2.5 years. Sammi went to Heaven on September 5th. The past two weeks have really seriously sucked. I miss her terribly. Honestly- I was VERY close to quitting photography due to the depression and everything contributed to (in part) by her progressing illness, I had lost my love for it. Sam was always happy to be my guinea pig whenever I needed practice when I was first starting out, or whenever I wanted to try something fun or new, Sam never had any kind of hesitation to let me play around and do whatever we felt like. Another time, when I did a "Santa Paws" type fundraiser for NOAH (a local animal shelter) Sam was my assistant for the day, helping people choose what they wanted to buy, taking orders, making my job easy. Seems like throughout my photography journey, Sam was always there in some way or another- and I think that's why it has been hard for me to continue when she was getting sicker, and for the past couple weeks thinking of continuing without her. It occurred to me yesterday morning though, that she would have been so mad at me if she knew I was quitting. This was a girl that never gave up EVER- she fought with every ounce of energy she had and then she fought even harder. Who am I to quit?
So- maybe with a little boost of the massive energy Sammi left behind, I am feeling motivated again and ready to face the world.

In other Eagan news... my kids started school on September 3, my youngest is officially a kindergartener! She barely made the cut-off for birthdays by 13 days- and she was born a week early! Had she been born a week late, I'd have a preschooler for another year, but she is doing good in kindergarten. Cody, my middle child, is in first grade and doing well. We are having him evaluated next week at Children's Hospital's Neurodevelopmental clinic to see if they find anything unusual about him. We have our suspicions but we are going to wait until we hear what the pros have to say about it... Kayla, my joyful 8-year-old, is in third grade this year and LOVING it. She was so worried that it would be too hard but they are having so much fun she is barely even realizing that she's learning anything! Yet she comes home with spelling words like "continents, equator, hemisphere, and equation". I love seeing my children enjoy school and am thoroughly enjoying watching them blossom into such amazing people.

Back to photography. I no longer have the studio (which you know if you've read the rest of my blog) but I am doing location sessions in parks, homes, wherever. It's so much more personal that way. I will post some Fall-Winter specials in the next couple days.

I'd better get some sleep now! The 7:15 alarm clock is unforgiving...

Family Field Trips, and Braggers Bonus!

Family Field Trips- Introductory price
Are you planning a fun day on the town with your kids? Would you like to have some extra-special memories of your day, while still being able to enjoy it? I am now offering "Field Trip Photography". For $350/2 hours (75-100 images), $500/4 hours (150-200 images) plus any admission fees if applicable, I will accompany your family on an outing to the Woodland Park Zoo, Pacific Science Center, Seattle Aquarium, Jetty Island, EMP, anywhere within location range, and provide you with a CD of 4x6 files to print for a scrapbook or photo album of your day!

This is a brand new concept I am trying out, and currently plan to offer it through Labor Day weekend. This is for single-family events, does not apply to parties, family reunions, or weddings. Based on the response over the summer, I will decide whether or not to continue this style of photography into the school year.

Braggers Bonus
If you love my work and think your friends would like to have me photograph their children as well, please tell me and I will provide you free of charge with a stack of customized "brag cards" for you to give your friends. For each friend you refer who schedules, we will give you and the friend each a $50 gift card!

Image of the month

Every once in a while I get an image that I am really excited about. Don't get me wrong, from most of my sessions there are a couple usually that I LOVE. But I love it when I am going over my images and I see something I feel really GREAT about. I am going to try- once a month or so- to pick my favorite image from each month. Possibly at the end of the year I'll have a contest for Image of the Year... who knows. Right now we'll stick with one.

This is sweet Baby R, only 8 days old. His mommy and daddy came to me for big brother and now I get to work with baby! This photo of Baby R is my Image of the Month for March.

Studio is gone!

Yes, the studio is gone! Friday afternoon I had my last two sessions in the studio, and very soon after started rearranging and by the end of the night we had a family room! I have been enjoying my location sessions and looking forward to doing more of those!

HOWEVER- I have decided NOT to sell most of my equipment at this time. After attending a wonderful photography seminar last night, I decided I should hang onto what I have, because I do still have the goal of eventually starting a studio up again- just not in my house! :)

Anyway... that's the big change happening here this week!

I'm busy editing right now but I think I am going to start a new feature on my blog, an "artist's pick of the week (or month)" type feature. I already know what my favorite shot for March is- and I will get that posted here in just a little while, once I'm done getting a little more work done!

Peekaboo!

Long time no see! I hope everyone had a great holiday season and are looking forward to 2008 with as much enthusiasm as I am!
As much as I love the holiday season, I HATE the holiday season! I get so overwhelmed between all the stuff to do, and to top it off this year, my laptop broke and was out of commission for a MONTH! YIKES! Thought I wouldn't survive, and a few of my clients felt the sting as well and for that I apologize. Anyway- I am so ready to get going in the new year and so happy that my first session this year was such a doll!
As I've said many times in the past, six months is my FAVORITE age. This little gal has been coming to my studio since she was a fetus and I am enjoying her so much! A couple for mommy to see before her preview! :)
